Leave a gift in your Will

A gift in your Will can make a powerful difference to the future of gynaecological cancers.

By choosing to remember The Eve Appeal in this lasting way, you’ll help fund groundbreaking research, drive greater awareness, and provide support for those affected by womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval, and vaginal cancers.

Your legacy can advance early detection and prevention efforts, empower more people to understand their gynaecological health and take action sooner. A gift of any size could be the key to a future where no one has to face the challenges of a gynae cancer diagnosis alone.

FAQs

Why do I need a Will?

It is important to make a will so that your money and your possessions can be left to who you wish after you die. Having a will also make things simpler for your family to sort out afterwards.

If you do not have a will your estate will be distributed as the law sees fit

What type of gift can I leave in my Will to The Eve Appeal?

There are three types of gifts you can leave to The Eve Appeal:

Residual Legacy- a gift or a percentage of the value of your estate after all other gifts have been made. This allows you to provide for your family and friends and leave a share of what is left to The Eve Appeal.
Pecuniary Legacy – a gift of a fixed sum of money.
Gift in Kind- a gift of a specific item such as shares, a house or items of jewellery.

How do I amend my Will?

Even if you are making small changes, it is good practice to review all aspects of your Will to ensure nothing else has changed.

If you are making a lot of changes, it is best to write a new Will. If it is just a few minor changes, you could add a codicil (a document that amends an existing Will, but does not replace it). A codicil must be signed in the exact same way as the Will was signed (although the witness can be a different person). It is also recommend that the codicil mentions the date of your current Will so that it is clear that the Codicil should be read in conjunction with it, and it should be kept with the original Will.

Most legal firms recommend making a new Will than using a codicil.

We always recommend going through a solicitor to amend your Will. The Law Society can assist you in finding a solicitor.
