When you’re worried about symptoms, screening results, investigations or a possible diagnosis, waiting for answers can feel overwhelming. Especially if you’re being woken up at 3am by your worries.
Our Ask Eve Nurses are helping more people every day with information and support around gynae health and gynae cancers. With hundreds of thousands of women still on waiting lists for gynaecology appointments, and some people struggling to get a GP appointment, they have been there as a constant source of support.
As well as coming to our nurses, Helen and Tracie, we know that lots of people are turning to doctor Google, and now also doctor AI, for their health information and reassurance. Whilst having somewhere to go with your questions all hours of the day can be useful, generic AI tools don’t always provide accurate and reliable answers.
Our testing of some commonly used AI platforms earlier this year found that when we pretended to be a woman with persistent bloating, a key symptom of ovarian cancer, ChatGPT missed cancer as a potential cause. It also missed vulval cancer as a potential cause of one of its leading symptoms, persistent vulval itching.
That’s why we’ve launched our own online tool, called Ask Eve Assist.
Ask Eve Assist is a new online tool that provides 24/7 access to trusted information about gynae cancers, investigations, symptoms, screening, HPV, prevention and where to find support. It is available on our website and can help you find the information you need.
Importantly, our Ask Eve Nurses are still here for you. Ask Eve Assist has been designed to answer the simpler questions, so that our nurses have more time for you when you need support.
Ask Eve Assist is unlike other generic online AI tools. It generates its answers to your questions exclusively from our own expert-reviewed, PIF ticked (the gold standard quality mark) health information. All our health information goes through rigorous quality assurance and review processes and is developed with qualified healthcare professionals and people affected by cancer. So with Ask Eve Assist, whatever the time of day or night you have somewhere to go with your questions and get answers that you can trust.
If you need more specialist support or have a question that Ask Eve Assist can’t answer, it will help you set up a call or email referral with our nurses. You won’t get stuck in a loop, you can ask to be referred to our nurses at any time. If you’ve got a question or worry, click the ‘Ask a Question’ button in the bottom right hand corner of the webpage to chat to Ask Eve Assist.
As a nurse, one of the hardest parts of the growing demand for Ask Eve was knowing that many people required more intensive support than we had time to provide. Ask Eve Assist has helped us manage this pressure by safely answering routine questions, allowing us to spend more time with those who need specialist care. Nothing can replace speaking to a nurse but Ask Eve Assist helps us make immediate support available to people when they need it.

Thanks to support from people like you, we can continue to be there for everyone who needs us, whenever they need us.
