Get more time
- Ask for a double appointment with your doctor
- You can ask for a female doctor too
- You can ask to bring someone with you. Like a friend, family member or carer
Bring a list of your symptoms
- When your symptoms started
- How your symptoms affect you
- Keep a diary of them if you can
Know when your last period was
- Keeping a diary of your periods can help
- If you don’t have periods any more because of your age, let them know when your last one was
Bring a list of any medications you are on
Explain your symptoms
- What the symptoms
- Where your symptoms are
- What part of the body they are in
- When they happen
- How bad they are
Let your doctor know you are happy to be examined
- They will get someone else in the room too
Ask your doctor what will happen next
- Ask when they would like you to call back if your symptoms are still there
