The Cocktail Hour blogger tour returns, and sees 20 designs chosen from McCall’s Vogue Patterns range for a new social sew-along; encouraging all those sewing enthusiasts-cum-bloggers (and we know you’re all out there!) to start creating their masterpieces; all in the name of charity! We’re very fortunate that through our partnership, McCall will be making a donation for every pattern sold to help protect women of today, and women of the future against gynaecological cancers.
Fresh off the machine…
Kerry Patterson, whose blog Kestrel Makes takes us through all her sewing and dressmaking adventures. She begun sewing in January 2010, when she took a beginners’ sewing class at a local college and has now been sewing avidly ever since. Recently, Kelly took part in McCall Pattern’s campaign #sipandsew in aid of The Eve Appeal – where she blogged about her experience, after taking part in their Vintage sew-a-long last year!
Kerry confesses to finding it difficult in choosing the pattern for her creation, already having a couple of good go-to patterns for ‘fancy’ dresses – she stated that ‘some of the garments on the pattern covers were not my style. I really wanted to make a garment that I would get some wear out of, and as I had been planning to make a jumpsuit for ages I opted for V9160.’
One thing that was for certain, Kelly was pleased with the fact that the pattern has good options and great potential for customisation – and on the plus side, it comes up true to size, ‘so no nasty surprises’ as she says.
“I really love this jumpsuit. It’s very comfortable to wear – the fabric is gorgeous but also I am happy with the sizing as it’s roomy enough to sit in or eat in (or both at the same time!).”
“I’m really glad that this opportunity gave me the push to make a project I had been thinking about for ages and I am sure that this is going to become a well worn favourite. Thanks to The Eve Appeal and McCall’s for the invite.”
#TeamEve are certainly pleased that Kelly likes her creation, so a huge THANK YOU Kelly for supporting The Eve Appeal by taking part in the #SipandSew campaign.
